
How to Volunteer
Persons fifty-five years of age or older, retired or still active in the work force, who want to share their lifetime experience and make a difference in the lives of those in need.
Enrollment
The initial step includes completion of an application form and an interview with the program director. Once the assignment is made, the volunteer receives a brief orientation from the RSVP staff, as well as additional instruction and supervision at the volunteer site.
Volunteer Opportunities
Providing transportation services to seniors for health-related appointments
Tutoring first and second-grade students in an after-school reading program
Receiving calls and arranging transports for the RIDE program
Counseling clients with Medicare on their options for medical and prescription coverage
Serving as a volunteer leader to organize and run programs
Receiving donations and serving clients at two thrift stores
Visiting and assisting the frail-elderly through Companion Outreach
Serving the needy at one of nine emergency food pantries
Providing program and clerical assistance to non-profits
Assisting seniors at five congregate meal sites
Cooking and serving meals at a soup kitchen
Supporting the work of the American Red Cross at bloodmobiles or through disaster preparedness
